Rakrakan Festival: Celebrating Filipino’s Love for Music!

Flipgeeks was fortunate enough to be invited at this year’s Rakrakan Festival. It was our first time attending the annual event and needless to say, we were blown away. Rakrakan Festival is a music event that gathers the very best our country has to offer. It caters to every music fan regardless of what genre you’re into. Rakrakan has 3 stages (Move, Mosh, Groove) that will suit any music fan’s taste.

At Rakrakan Festival, you get to enjoy the best of the very best. During the time that we were there, some of the notable performances that we were able to catch were Chicosci, Imago, Gracenote, Save Me Hollywood, Maryzark, Moonstar 88, Typecast and hands down the most memorable of it all, Queso’s performance. It’s surreal how Ian Tayao commands the ocean of people rocking out to every riff and every beat of every song. Rakrakan Festival is also an avenue for new bands reach out to the audience. New bands like Drive Me to Juliet and John Dinopol’s (Urbandub) Cables and Space were both well received by the crowd.

Originally scheduled in December 2015, Rakrakan 2015 was cancelled due to heavy rains on the original festival date. Thinking about it now, it turned out to be blessing that the original date was cancelled as festival goers wouldnt have enjoyed the festival as much as we did last Saturday night. We were treated to a cold, breezy and clear night under the moon and stars while watching the bands we love. To be honest, it was tiring moving in between stages but you can just sit or even lie down at Circuit Makati’s wide, grassy concert grounds to rejuvenate yourself for another round of rock and roll at the stage of your choice.

Rakrakan Festival is the ideal music festival. Though, there were a few changes to the schedule of performances it was so minor that no one even got bothered, everyone was having a great night. Rakrakan Festival was a smorgasbord of sorts as you have everything you need,  all in one place. From food to booze to merchandises and of course, a great line-up of bands, its there! Its a melting pot of rock and roll. Words aren’t enough to describe the phenomenal event that Rakrakan Festival is. You need to experience it for yourself.
