Creator Shigeru Miyamoto On A Female Lead For Main Zelda Games

Before we saw glorious footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the recently concluded E3 2016 conference, there were a lot of rumors of getting a female lead (or female Link) for the the upcoming main Zelda game. Even though we’re getting a male Link, having a female lead is an option for some of the Zelda fans.

Zelda creator and Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto, recently opened up to Gamekult (via Nintendo Everything) regarding having a female lead on the main series of Legend of Zelda games. Regarding to having a female Link, as of now it is impossible. “Link is the hero and will not change.”, Miyamoto said, and we believe that retaining Link as a male is here to stay.

But he also opened up about having a female lead when it comes to a spinoff game. Here’s what he said:

We clearly talked with the team to make a game centered about Sheik, so I cannot say it is impossible to see something of the sort in the future, but in the classic games in the series, Link is the hero and that will not change. For the rest, you have to be patient and see what happens!”

So what do you think? Would you like to see Sheik be the lead character in future Zelda games? You can also check what Sony has in store based on their E3 2016 conference here.
