All Eyes on Blizzard as They Announce “OVERWATCH”
Blizzard announced its new game OVERWATCH in their annual Blizzcon convention.
Grabbing everyone’s attention with a Pixar-styled cinematic trailer, Overwatch promises to have a lighter and more colorful tone than most first-person shooters in the vein of Call of Duty and Counter Strike. With its more stylized characters and cartoonish weapons, the game clearly wants to be set apart from if competition.
The game features many different characters, each with their own unique powers and abilities, for the player to use. Overwatch is a 6v6 team-based shooter where players will need to fill different roles to reach their goal, such as a medic or tank. Expect more characters, weapons and locations in the future.
The game is set in the near future and focuses on the members of the disbanded superhero team Overwatch, comprised of adventurers, scientist and oddities.
Blizzard, known best for the MMORPG World of Warcraft(WOW), will need Overwatch to perform seeing as the number WOW players have been declining steadily. The current number of WOW players are roughly half of its 12 million peak.
Overwatch may have been based on a Blizzard game that was canceled called, Titan. Titan was also a multiplayer game set in the future.
