GAMES AND POLITICS GAME JAM

Geothe x FlipGeeks GAME JAM 2017

As part of the Goethe Institut Philippines Games And Politics’ interactive exhibit is the Games and Politics Game Jam. To those who are not familiar, a Game Jam is an improvisational video game development competition, wherein participants try to develop a fully playable video game based on the theme and parameters set by the organizers within a set period, usually between 24 to 48 hours. This is the standard format used by the game development scene worldwide, which intends to promote creativity and cooperation between the game developers from different backgrounds.

Interested applicants can register online via the Game Jam Registration Page. Registration starts on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 until Friday, September 22, 2017. 50 participants would be carefully selected for the Games and Politics Game Jam. The Game Jam is only open to applicants with game development/ game jam experience.

The Games and Politics Game Jam will take place on October 6, 2017 to October 7, 2017 at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde Main Campus.

Mechanics:

- It can be worked alone or in a team. Teams can consist of 3 to 5 members.
– The Game Jam theme will be released on October 6 at 3 pm.
– The game must be uploaded by the specified platform at 3 pm on 7 October.
– Present the game idea to a body of established indie developers.

Food, security and medical assistance are offered on site.

Participants must bring their own machines to the Game Jam. Participants can use any tools or reference pieces to create the game. Participants can begin with any basic code or structure that they have available. Participants may also use third-party graphics / music / audio files or files that they have previously created.  However, participants may only use files for which they have the license rights (public domain, things they have licensed / created).

Prizes

The developers of the best 3 games will be rewarded with the possibility of their creations at the Electronic Sports Gaming Summit (ESGS) Indie Arena on 27.-29.  October 2017 free of charge at one of the stands.

Three members of the winning team also wins a sponsored trip to Cologne, Germany to exhibit their game at GAMESCOM 2018 .

Code of Conduct

The Games and Politics Game Jam focuses on the organization of a fruitful event through collaboration, innovation and experimentation. We encourage an open and welcoming atmosphere throughout the event and ask all participants to follow the standard Code of Conduct.
