Originally scheduled for release this month, Mighty No. 9 has been delayed again. Slated for a February 9, 2016 launch, Keiji Inafune (creator of Mega Man) has recently announced that a number of matchmaking bugs in Mighty No. 9’s online multiplayer game caused the game’s delay. It was also mentioned that the game’s engine is no longer updated which would mean adjustments for matchmaking and online codes are now made manually.

As of today, Keiji Inafune has not announced a new release date but mentioned that the game is expected to be realistically be available come Spring of 2016.

Inafune also mentioned in a statement “Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result, our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry.”

Migthy No. 9 originally started as a crowd funded game in Kickstarter with having more than 67,000 backers giving approximately $4 million dating back to the original campaign back in September 2013. Mighty No. 9 was originally intended for a PC release but after reaching its stretch goals, the game will be available for the Mac, Linux, Playstation 3 and 4, Playstation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS.
