WAR filled FAR FUTURE, Part 6

In the Grim Darkness of the Future,There is Only War.

As is the premise of Warhammer 40,000 (WH40K), the miniatures wargame set in the war torn millenium of the 41st Century. And June 30 2012 marks the 6th edition of the world’s most popular Sci-Fi miniatures war game.

The previous edition lasted a good 5 years, typical for any rules set for the game. It was well-loved by players everywhere as it introduced a lot of game-changing elements like run, go to ground and revised Universal Special Rules. 5th edition was also lauded as being more balanced than 4th edition as it pretty much leveled the field for most armies.

But as with any othe rules set, there are still a lot of loopholes and unchecked unbalances within it. A problem that 6th edition hopes to fix. Warhammer 6th edition had some game elements fixed for more balance (‘Feel No Pain’ rule is on a 5+ roll now for example) and a ton of new rules for players to use and explore. Among the more major rule additions is the inclusion of fortifications into the Force Organization Chart. This means that players will now have to purchase buildings/fortifications into their army lists rather than being seleced by the players themselves before a game. Allies are now back as well. This rule allows players to choose a small detachment from a different army into their own. This opens up a whole new level of play and fun for old and new players alike.

A lot more elements await tabletop generals in the near future: Generic Psychic Powers lists. Flyers rules. New shooting and melee combat rules. And most of all: new models to feast on.

The future just got grimmer and darker…
