Angry Birds Flying Into The Big Screen Via Sony Pictures
Last week, Sony Pictures Entertainment won the exclusive distribution for an Angry Birds animated film. A lot of big time studios pursued the rights in the recent weeks but Sony Pictures Entertainment won and plans to release the film worldwide on July 1, 2016.
On May 15, 2013 Michael Lynton, Chairman & CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Amy Pascal, Co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio Entertainment jointly announced their partnership. John Cohen (producer of Despicable Me) and David Maisel (Executive producer of Iron Man) – will both be working on the new Angry Birds feature film. Cohen will serve as producer and Maisel is executive producer.
