Michelle Maclaren Named Director of “WONDER WOMAN”

Warner Bros’ WONDER WOMAN now has a director in Michelle Maclaren. Maclaren, whose most notable works include widely received series’ such as Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, was the studio’s first choice and was in talks since last August. Since then, talks have ended and Maclaren has agreed to develop and direct the long awaited movie adaptation of the female superhero icon, Wonder Woman.

Aside from directing the film, Maclaren will work with the movie’s writers, who are still unnamed, to shape the film.

The search for Wonder Woman’s director started this August and the first choice was Maclaren. However, Warner Bros’ decided to explore their options and two more female directors, Jennifer Kent(The Babadook) and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland), were considered. Ultimately, the studio decided on Maclaren to helm the project.

The film will be produced by Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven. The trio are also the producers of the Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Wonder Woman will be played by Gal Gadot, who will be introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film is rumored to be set in the 1920’s and will take place in the Amazon. However, nothing definite has been set regarding the plot of the movie.

Wonder Woman is set to be the first movie featuring a female superhero as the main protagonist. The film will be released June 23, 2017 beating out DC’s competition, Marvel, who has announced a Captain Marvel movie for 2018.
