The 5 Overlooked Roles of Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman, as a talking animal (Happy Feet, 2006)
Yes, we’ve seen Hugh Jackman be quite the animal in the X-Men movies but how about this you guys – A talking animated penguin! I see I’ve gotten your attention but it gets better! A talking animal… THAT CAN SING AND /dramatic pause/ TAP HIS FEET. Happy Feet has a large cast, a strange yet surreal story from the director who has brought us stuff like the Mad Max movies. It has been ages since I’ve first seen the movie back in 2006. Not only did it surprise my 10-year old self that this movie is not the innocent family movie I thought it was with a social commentary but also show in the first few minutes of the movie where I saw the man who has played Wolverine singing and dancing to heartbreak hotel in a form of an animated penguin. Now I didn’t re-watch this since 2006 but from what I can remember, despite this movie being more of Elijah Wood’s movie, I thought the movie had a pretty solid dramatic moments that were sold so well through these animated waddling birds. Hugh had a supporting role here and his subtle voicework is pretty good and like i said sold the dramatic parts really well. Not a lot of people remember that he was once in the movie, even when the film did boast a huge star-studded cast.
