CBS NOT PURSUING HOW I MET YOUR DAD

HIMYM-Ted-Tracy

After the recent success of How I Met Your Mother its network, CBS had decided not to proceed with the spin-off show How I Met Your Dad.  CBS entertainment chairman, Nina Tassler had announced on a recent network presentation to media buyers in New York that they had decided to pass on the spin-off show from HIMYM creators Carter Bay and Craig Thomas.

Nina Tassler told reporters: “”There were elements on the pilot that didn’t work out.We tried to work out about redoing the pilot. That’s not happening right now. Sometimes you run into these kind of issues and you hope they can resolve themselves in that time frame.”

Another CBS show, The Big Bang Theory got delayed after its initial pilot also because the network was not happy with how the initial pilot turned out and decided to do a new version. A good decision by CBS since the Big Bang Theory turned out to be a huge success. Question is would this be a good decision on CBS part to pass out on the show since they would be letting go of a huge opportunity to bank on the success of How I Met Your Mother. Since CBS let go of How I Met Your Dad the rights to the show would revert back to its studio 20th Century Fox. Creators Carter Bay and Craig Thomas would have the freedom to shop How I Met Your Dad to other television networks if they would like to.

Personally I do hope that Thomas and Bay would still pursue the show since a lot of fans of the original show would like to know the other half of the story from the mother’s perspective. Would this be another sad ending for Tracy (the mother)? And so the wait begins.

We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
