COMIC BOOK REVIEW: Justice League #3

The Flipgeeks team reviewing Justice League # 3 by Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Scott Williams from DC Comics

Earl’s Take:

The book continues to be eye-candy every month. Either in the form of the battle scenes between the slowly forming JL, to the gorgeous character moments for Wonder Woman and future beau Steve Trevor, everything in this book is “BUY ME!” which is a good thing too. I was telling my girlfriend last night while reading the book that I would probably buy any book that Jim Lee illustrates even a “Budoy” comic book if he does one.

Geoff Johns writing skills also take center stage as we get to see a little bit of the continued drama between Victor Stone and his father after last issue’s attack. Since this is basically an origins issue, its safe to say that there will be some unlikely names being dropped and making cameos in this heavy hitting book. From the aforementioned Trevor to guys like T.O. Morrow and Professor Ivo, its like a mad scientists reunion for this issue.

One of the biggest “ups” for me for Justice League # 3 is the fact that its a story that really puts the action first while at the same time perfectly juggles other story elements. There are a few fun moments sprinkled throughout the book coming in the form of the dialogues from Hal Jordan and the Flash.

Wonder Woman’s bit was also enjoyable and I can certainly say that if this continues, I’ll really go back to getting singles again rather than wait for the release of the trade paperback or hardcover for this book. Heck, we even get to see a new retconned origin for Cyborg as well as a glimpse of Darkseid.

No downs for me this issue as I am giving this a Perfect 5.
