COMIC BOOK REVIEW: Justice League # 6

Reviewing Justice League # 6 by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.

The latest issue of JL culminates with a lot of explosions and splash pages, a bit of humor and a vision of things to come for the New 52 DC Universe. But the real question is whether or not this is a satisfying read or is it just another way to show the world how awesome Jim Lee’s art is?

In fairness to this issue, I was simply taken aback and enjoyed the whole book. Yes this issue is a bit pricey but seeing that this is the end game of a six months worth of issues, its got a lot of pay-offs plus even more teases not just for the future of the League but also for the future of the entire DCnU.

Jim Lee’s art is impeccable. I can definitely say that this was an issue that was totally worth the wait despite of a few minor blips in the art or storytelling.

the humor bits were great but at the same time there were some that were totally hilarious. Action scenes were also jaw-dropping since this issue depicted the a lot of those. Personal favorites were the scenes involving Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

In this issue, Batman also shows that he is still the brains behind this outfit and he’s only letting the other guys take the spotlight because he’s letting them do so. It’s pretty amazing to note also that it’s not even 10 minutes (I’m assuming) since Bats met Cyborg and yet he has already read the guy like a book, cajoling him into closing the boom tubes that were created.

I’m still not happy with the depiction of Superman for this issue. Not only are we shown a pushover Supes (which from a story-wise standpoint is important to show how badasses the other members are) we are also seeing a Superman that has mannerisms and behavior similar to Batman.

If I could easily put it, I would say that Justice League # 6 was simply an action movie; an action movie of the Justice League we all like to see happen in the near future. We really don’t need too much drama for this particular issue and that’s exactly what we got.

The back-up story between Pandora and the Phantom Stranger is also a great story which will definitely hook both new and old readers. I personally adore Pandora’s guns in this issue plus the subtle tease that we see at the end featuring the “super villains” in the shadows.

Verdict: 10/10 – Hands down the BOOK OF WEEK!
