What was your favorite comic of 2013?
Favorite comic… hmmm. Actually, I can’t actually pinpoint [any]. As an artist, I am more drawn to the visuals… best visuals for me though… The Wake, Batman, Battling Boy, Avengers.

“Ang hirap kung ano ang favorite eh.” I also like Matteo Scalera’s art on Black Science.

What was the best achievement that you reached in 2013?
Achievement… hmm. I was able to create more comics through digital means through iPad. I get to draw more while I juggle work and married life. (laughs)

What are your comic book-related projects that are coming out in 2014?
Hopefully, I get to finish this title we are working on for Komikon. Tentatively titled… INDIOS BRAVOS EXTREMO. and me and my wife’s THE WAKE KING.

What was your favorite comic of 2013?
My favorite new indie for 2013 Andoyman’s Ang Sumpa, but that’s just from the few titles that I managed to read. Oh, and Dead Balagtas should be on everyone’s “like” list.

What was the best achievement that you reached in 2013?
That’s easy: getting to watch Chris Costello and Mihk Vergara’s short film adaptation of Ang Maskot on the big screen at this year’s Cinemanila. That’s really the filmmakers’ achievement not mine, but i’m very proud to be part of that film.

Check out our interview with Macoy regarding with his komiks and his Ang Maskot in film

What are your comic book-related projects that are coming out in 2014?
School Run pa rin ang priority… but I’d like to finally finish my share in a number of long-overdue collaborations. And hopefully find more artists to collaborate with!
