SAM KIETH and JOHN LAYMAN Soar High With ELEANOR & THE EGRET

Two bonafide creators in the world of comic books have joined forces under AfterShock Comics’ banner to give us a new series about art theft and encounters with an animal of the avian variety. John Layman, the creator of modern hit Chew, joins Sam Kieth, the co-creator of the beloved Sandman and The Maxx series, to bring us Eleanor & The Egret.

The best detective the Paris police force has to offer encounters a white feather at the latest art-related crime scene. With that begins an unforgettable chase with a bevy of twists and turns that only the creators themselves know.

Layman revealed to IGN his inspirations for the upcoming series. “I’d call Eleanor & the Egret of a surrealist fable, or even a surrealist romance. If anything, it’s my attempt to do a Miyazaki film,”

He also had this to say about the book’s overall tone. “It’s weird, and coming up for concrete explanations for the weirdness is not a particular priority. But if you can accept this weird world, it should be an enjoyable ride, and it’s not so weird readers won’t understand what’s going on.”

The first issue of Eleanor & The Egret will be available this April.
