The KOMIKERO — Gerry Alanguilan

You may have known this guy from the awesome video above that created all that buzz in Youtube and Facebook. Originally entitled “Hey, Baby!” and later “Lakas ng trip ni manong” in Youtube, it featured a man smiling repeatedly, obviously “tripping” and it is very funny. Little do people know, that this guy is a Filipino comics creator. And just in case you also don’t know, he is Gerry Alanguilan or “Komikero”. Gerry has been known to be the inker for such titles like X-Men, Superman: Birthright, Wolverine, High Roads, Silent Dragon and Fantastic Four.

He has contributed to anthologies like Siglo: Freedom, Siglo: Passion and Filipino Komiks, all published in the Philippines. He has created comics such as Wasted, Johnny Balbona, Humanis Rex!, Timawa , Where Bold Stars go to Die and ELMER.

Though he worked some titles for major comics publishers in the US, alongside Leinil Francis Yu and Whilce Portacio ,he is very much active in the local scene and in bringing life to Philippine comics. Even if he isn’t based in Metro Manila, he rarely misses comics-related events like – UP Komikon, Toycon and the big one Metro Comic Con (MCC).

But this guy isn’t just all work, and when he’s not doing his usual stuff, he creates videos for us just like the one above. These videos may contain, rants or raves, his opinions with regards to random stuff and of course he also makes videos that are educational too, some stuff about comics-creating and everything else. His videos are found in Youtube, but don’t worry because we’ll be bringing those videos here in flipgeeks. So just check our website for more Komikero videos to come.

Check out his website and some of his works here.
