Sen. Bam Aquino and IGA to Grace the ESGS Halls
With ESGS just around the corner, gamers and developers alike are prepping up for the biggest gaming summit of the year. The E-Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) Team will also bring two distinguished names from the industry: Sen. Bam Aquino and Igarashi Koji (Castlevania series)
Sen. Bam Aquino, a vocal supporter of the gaming industry in the Philippines, is set to open once again the ESGS doors and light the metaphorical torch of the event. Senator Benigno Paolo “Bam” Aquino is an honorary member of the Philippine E-Sports Association (PeSPA) and has been a strong advocate of the local gaming community. The PeSPA was established in September 2015 and acts an official governing body that supports the E-Sports industry of amateur to professional players.
He sees the potential of the gaming industry, specifically e-Sports and the indie scene developments; how it can provide high-value jobs and appreciation for artists and developers. Being a gamer himself, he strongly believes that the local game development industry and E-Sports can be a huge asset for the economy – and sooner or later, be in the mainstream market; similar to Malaysia and Korea.
Along with Sen. Aquino, Igarashi Koji, also known as IGA, will be attending the prestige gaming summit this year. IGA has made his name in the industry through his first console title – Castlevania. Being a producer of the Castlevania series and now an independent developer, IGA still strives to conquer the industry with “iga-vania” elements especially with his latest work – Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. With interesting gameplay similar to his prior Castlevania: Symphony of the Night title, Bloodstained: RotN pays homage to gothic styles and dark fantasies that most iga-vania games possess.
Catch Sen. Bam Aquino at the opening rites of ESGS (Friday, October 28) and IGA in ESGS at SMX, SM Mall of Asia on October 28 to October 30, 2016.
