ANT-MAN #1 Shrinks Its Way with a Unique Variant Cover

antmanThere have been many types of variant covers released through the years. Foil-stamped, lithographed, 3D covers, you name it, the industry has pretty much done it. However, Marvel Comics is attempting something big for January 2015 in terms of variant covers… or should we say attempting something small?

Ant-Man #1 will be released with a “shrinking” cover variant. How does that exactly work? Each cover will see a limited release strictly in retailer orders, with each Ant-Man featured in a cover having a different size. Marvel SVP Sales and Marketing David Gabriel said in a Marvel.com press release, “This is completely unlike any cover we’ve ever attempted. We’ve even had to utilize new technologies to make it happen. Each variant is completely unique. Each and every cover will feature a different sized Ant-Man. No two are identical!”

The new title will be written by Marvel mainstays Nick Spencer, who worked on other titles such as Avengers World and Superior Foes of Spider-Man, and it will be drawn by Ramon Ronasas, known for his work on Night of the Living Deadpool. The Ant-Man featured in this series will be Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man in comics continuity. Lang will also be featured in the upcoming Ant-Man film due for release on July 17, 2015.
