COMMUNITY Season 6 Confirmed, With Sony Hinting At A Possible Movie!

Community Season 5

It looks like Community has finally exited the darkest timeline, with a confirmed sixth season and possible movie in the works!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Television president of programming and production Zack Van Amburg hinted at the possibility of a Community movie, saying “There’s no way we’re not making the movie now! I think once we make the movie, let’s look up and decide how much more Community the world wants,” when asked about a seventh season.

Prior to the interview, internet company Yahoo! also announced that it will be reviving the series for a sixth season, set to premiere this fall on Yahoo Screen. While Sony has made no official announcements on a movie yet, it looks like the fans’ popular #SixSeasonsAndaMovie goal may not be so impossible after all.

NBS recently cancelled Community after its fifth season, although the show had already been suffering from on-the-bubble ratings ever since its first season.

Despite the danger of being cancelled, Harmon and company continued to show fans their determination in keeping the show alive, whether it be with NBS or not. Fans may have noticed Danny Pudi’s character Abed utter a reassuring line in the Season 5 finale “Basic Sandwich”, saying “This show, Annie … it isn’t just their show. This is our show, and it’s not over.”

Prior to the show’s renewal, Harmon had already expressed his desire to bring back Donald Glover as Troy Barnes, if ever the show did get a sixth season.

Community will have a “slightly different format” once it returns on Yahoo Screen, with the season’s 13 episodes set to be released weekly this fall.
