Ready, Build, Go! Relive The Glory Days Of Mini 4WDs At The Brickyard By Lil’s Hobby Center

Whatever age group you belong to, you can’t deny that you’ve went gaga when the “Let’s Go!” anime came out during the 90s. Every weekend, you wake up early, eat, do chores or whatever, so that nothing would distract you once the show comes on. After watching the anime, you just got to have a model car kit of your own, and race with your friends! But it wasn’t enough, after you knew the basics, you want to customize you’re kit and buy weights, motors and other stuff, and be the envy of your friends! You gather your family/friends and build team to compete at tournaments in malls or makeshift race tracks. It didn’t stop there, when the game came out on the Playstation, you played it there too! Well, that’s how I recall my first experience with Tamiya. The priceless moments of building and racing your own model kit. It gave you that bond that it’s your OWN car and not just a car you pick up at the mall.

Then life happened, you either outgrew the hobby, or moved on to the next but Tamiya suddenly took a backseat. It’s been years since I have seen kids racing at race tracks because the places that I used to go to doesn’t have them anymore.  However, The Brickyard by Lil’s Hobby Center is bringing it all back! They decided to put up shop and provide a venue for mini 4WDs enthusiasts to relive and continue the glory days of this wonderful hobby. The Brickyard by Lil’s Hobby Center is a one-stop pop-up shop where you could purchase Tamiya mini 4WDs, build it and race it, all in one place! You could even test your 4WD by either doing a time trial or compete with fellow enthusiats.

FlipGeeks was lucky enough to be invited at The Brickyard by Lil’s Hobby Center press event wherein they let different media/bloggers build up their own mini4WD and compete with each other. I got myself a Tamiyi Raikiri kit and was told that it’s one of the newer 4WDs. I actually chose it not because it’s a new model but by how it looks. I told myself that even if I didn’t win the race, I’d win by aesthetics. To my surprise, my car got me to the semifinals! It’s so fast that it flew off the track and cost me the tournament but it was all good fun! Thanks to The Brickyard by Lil’s Hobby Center we got to hang-out with our friends and peers from different media sites.
