GEEK FACTS: Heath Ledger and Cesar Romero’s Clown Mask

GEEK FACTS is a column in Flipgeeks that showcases geek factoids geek culture!

HA HA HE HE HOO HEEE HA HA HOO HA HAAaa …   Batman’s archenemy The Joker has been portrayed in TV and Movies by awesome actors. Cesar Romero (Batman TV Series), Mark Hamill (Batman: The Animated Series), Jack Nicholson (Batman Film) and Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight) has shared the many laughs of the Joker.

Heath Ledger’s is the latest portrayal in the big screen in one of the most highly rated movies ever in geek culture – “The Dark Knight“(TDKR). This epic movie which was the 2nd film in a trilogy by Christopher Nolan, introduced us to a dark, cynical mastermind  no bat-fan has ever seen. If you haven’t watched it, go and buy a copy already.

Interestingly, and this is where our geek facts actually begin, there’s something in the movie that is very similar to another Joker’s portrayal. In TDKR, Heath Ledger/Joker first appeared in the thrilling bank robbery scene. Before he fully revealed himself, he was wearing this clown mask. This clown mask is almost identical to the one Cesar Romero used in the 60s TV series when he first appeared as the Joker during a hijacking performance of Pagliacci in the episode “The Joker Is Wild”

Wild huh? Hopefully you geeks enjoyed this little trivia or geek fact we’ve shared with you. Comeback next week for more geeky facts! Check out the video below if you wish to watch the first episode of the Cesar Romero first appearance as the joker ;)
