To sum it all up..

Bloodshot Reborn 15 covJeff Lemire and Mico Suayan‘s BLOODSHOT REBORN #15 is DAY 2 of the second part of the current Bloodshot Island story arc. As mentioned previously, the five Bloodshots from different eras of the 20th century are “reborn” to challenge this Deathmate gal. This time around, led by the current Bloodshot, the Bloodshot ragtag team has a strategy to defeat her. Whether it succeeds or otherwise, it’s up to the readers to grab this good issue and read it for themselves!

Simply said, Jeff’s script is excellent from start to finish. The combination of humor, especially in the beginning, somber dialogues that presented between the exchanges of two Bloodshots, and the intense cat-and-mouse chase is anything but overwhelmed. I say, this second arc is fluid, lucid, compact and enjoyable to read, in addition of raveling some interesting twists regarding this “island”, so to speak.

Mico’s art is unmistakably superb. Consistent from start to finish, his art are virtually perfect for the mood and intensity of the story. Even the humorous parts of this issue are spot-on with Jeff’s brand of humanizing characters. The artist’s sequential paneling is still topnotch, neither messy nor exaggerated, just excellent accessible visual read. He wastes neither panels nor spaces to attain his own artistic excellence. This begs a question, why he isn’t nominated in prestigious comic given award bodies? Simply said, Mico’s art is like watching an excellent action suspense thriller in comic form. That’s what you get in enjoying Mico’s interior art. If you are patriot enough, please pick up the Stephen Segovia cover art variant.
Surprisingly enough, there are less visual shock values than the last one, in addition of minor immediate reveal perhaps to the shortness of this arc (plus, well, Mico’s art is so tedious and painstakingly detailed, not suitably for the long-run series). Nonetheless, Bloodshot Reborn #15 continues the creative team’s excellent storytelling and visual sequencing. I said this and say it once again, GRAB IT!
