FULL REVIEW

Bloodshot: Reborn #17 is the concluding chapter of the Bloodshot Island arc, where the so-called Bloodshot Corps has to be tested to its limits by the main antagonist named Deathmate. Writer Jeff Lemire divides this finale into two interconnecting subplots. One is the main one where the present Bloodshot has to do anything in his power to save his fellow corps members and his former lover who became the aforementioned fighting machine. And the last one actually sets up for a next bigger chapter categorically mentioned as “Phase Two”, which blends well with the former since the latter answers some of the loose ends that Lemire sprinkled/laid down from the premier chapter of this riveting series, setting motion to a more exciting arc to go.

Without further adieu, Mico Suayan‘s art remains to be beholden. Although not as intense nor detailed as last issue, his sequential paneling, artistic breakdowns and emotional portrayals of characters remain very consistently admirable from start to finish. Even his numerous crosshatching are well-placed.

Sure, there are graphic violence and some cussing around, but still, Bloodshot: Reborn #17 maintains a good level of consistency in both storytelling and the artistic departments, most particularly Mico Suayan’s ever increasing artistic excellence, alongside with the grand set-up for the next Bloodshot chapter.
