After director Guillermo del Toro admitted Hellboy 3 was not going to happen, it seemed all hope was lost for another Hellboy movie to be made. But Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has announced that a reboot is in the works with Stranger Things star David Harbour to play the titular character.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Millenium is in talks with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin, as well as Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment, for a a reboot of the property.

The project has a working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen with Neil Marshall in negotiations to direct the film, and a script written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola.

However, Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman, who played Hellboy in the first two films, are not involved in any way.

Created by Mike Mignola in 1993, Hellboy is a demon who was adopted and raised by a professor to fight supernatural threats as part of an organization called the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.).
