JL8 Creator Yale Stewart Holds Special Sale & Original Art Auction for Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan Victims

Yale Stewart, the creator of one of our favorite webcomics over here at FlipGeeks, JL8 (visit the official Facebook fanpage HERE), is holding a special wallpaper bundle sale over at his website. Here’s his official statement:

As many of you know, the Philippines were absolutely ravaged this past weekend by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiya). The death toll is expected to surpass 10,000. Beyond that, millions are without food, water, shelter. A state of calamity has been issued. Things are grim.

What many of you may NOT know, is that the Philippines is the second-largest readership of JL8, only surpassed by the US. Not that I wouldn’t step in for a tragedy of this magnitude regardless, but as such, it hits a little bit closer to home than most.

All that being said, I’m offering a wallpaper/cover photo bundle pack at my webstore for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to UNICEF Philippines, whose goal is to primarily assist the children affected by this disaster.

Obviously, the timeline photo has been posted up right here, and you can use it if you want without donating anything, and that’s fine. If you do, though, I ask that you include the information for donating when you do post it, so that others may find a way to give.

The wallpaper and cover photo can be found here:

The creator is also auctioning off the original, uncolored version of this awesome wallpaper/cover photo. Here’s a link to his auction – JL8 Typhoon Relief original art by Yale Stewart

Here’s the description of the item:

You are bidding on the original art of the Super Typhoon Haiya relief image by JL8 creator Yale Stewart.

The original art is produced on 11″x17″ Strathmore 300 series Vellum bristol, and made with a variety of materials, such as Prismacolor Col-erase pencils, Higgins Black Magic ink, and Copic markers.

In addition to the original art, the winning bidder will also receive a colored print copy of the image.

You’ll be buying the piece directly from me, Yale Stewart. Both the original art and print will come signed.

All proceeds from this auction will be donated to UNICEF Philippines, which will use the funds to aid the children victimized by the typhoon. For those of you who are interested in helping, but cannot bid, you can purchase the image as a wallpaper and cover photo set here:

Or you can donate directly to UNICEF Philippines yourself, here:

Due to the nature of this auction, I will be opening up bidding to international buyers as well. However, international shipping has risen sharply, so the cost is expensive, as I have to make sure to purchase a service that provides tracking and insurance. I apologize, but I also am not accountable for any customs fees that may be incurred via international shipping.

Thank you all for looking.

-Yale
