FG MUSIC: NECK DEEP Live in Manila – A Pop-Punk Party!

It’s approximately a week since Neck Deep blew our minds off and I’m still under PCD (Post Concert Depression). As I write this article, I’m listening to Neck Deep tracks, relieving every second of the concert.

Last January 28, 2016, fans flocked to SM North EDSA Sky Dome to witness the greatness that is Neck Deep. I arrived at the venue around 5pm thinking that I was early and I’m surprised that there was already a long line stretching out to the mall’s entrance. At that moment, you can tell how much love the fans got for the band.

As soon as the gates open, fans rushed to the stage, picking their spot. I just stayed at the back reserving energy for the chaos that is about to ensue once the concert begins. I was just browsing my phone when something awesome happened. Neck Deep’s concert didn’t have any front act but it was not an issue as fans started to sing along to the music playing in the background, in CHORUS! It instantly became a sing-along/listening party. Fans sing along the music of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Story So Far and State Champs (well, those were the only bands I recognized from what I heard). It went on for about an hour until the Sky Dome went black.

When the lights went off, pandemonium ensued, fans screamed their lungs out as soon as Neck Deep appeared on the stage rocking with their opening track “Citizens of the Earth”. Neck Deep did not waste any time as they performed one track after another with the crowd matching the bands energy.

Sky Dome instantly turned into one moshpit with fans crowd-surfing, moshing, head banging and singing along to every word in every song. Neck Deep just gave off such good vibes that everyone was having a great time and regardless if you went there alone or with friends, it was one big party!

However, as cliché as it may be, all good things have to an end. Neck Deep’s concert was over after performing 12 non-stop tracks ending with “Cant Kick Up the Roots”. No one felt short changed even if the concert lasted for about an hour.  To cap the night off, Neck Deep had a meet and greet session with all ticket holders after their performance! Everyone sang their hearts out and gave it their all during the concert. Neck Deep Live in Manila was way beyond words. It was surreal, everyone got lost in the music. It’s hard to put into writing what happened that night; it was definitely one for the record books.

And as one of the signs raised during Neck Deep’s performance of “A Part of Me”, Neck Deep will always have a part of us.

Hats off to Pulp for bringing Neck Deep live in Manila.
