Noel Pascual‘s and AJ Bernardo’s conclusion to the current ongoing story arc in Crime-Fighting Call Center Agents brings in the action and comedy, plus a few character moments.

Being the conclusion issue for an ongoing arc, this is not the best part to jump into the series obviously. With that said however, Pascual’s writing made it so that even if you did jump into the middle of the story, somehow the reader won’t be confused too much with the current happenings. It’s the subtle things in the dialogue and writing that inform the reader of the current situation of the plot, although it could take a few rereads to know what’s what.

Basically, Koontz gets possessed and it’s up to his friends to defeat the evil spirit and save him. While the overall plot certainly isn’t new nor revolutionary, it’s the characters and the ridiculous resolution (which is pretty funny) are what stands out the most. In addition, humor is a big part of the comic, which it delivers flawlessly.

AJ Bernardo’s black and white is reminiscent of Sean Murphy’s, which is impressive. And the way the Bernardo portrays the action from panel to panel is a treat to look at (especially when Noel does a sommersault). He holds back a bit and takes some liberties with backgrounds, but when a panel does feature one it’s remarkable.

Packed with action, over-the-top premise, and humor you’d expect from the team, Crime-Fighting Call Center Agents #6 delivers a nice conclusion to the story. It’s a fast read, but readers can still find the issue enjoyable.
