Deadpool #13 is a massive 96-page issue that features “four” crossovers, involving “four” street-level superheroes of New York—Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and well, Deadpool! Writers Gerry Duggan, Charles Soule and David Walker combine their literary comic writing prowess to craft a tale about whether or not star reporter Ben Urich writes his newspaper article that revolves around, well, a mob affair that needs Deadpool’s specialties.

[CHECK OUT… REVIEW: Sins of the father in ‘Deadpool #12′]

Admittedly and surprisingly, Duggan’s comedic delivery, Soule’s legalist rhythm and Walker’s wacky bantering synchronize so well in delivering a well-written, standalone narrative on a case gone so terribly wrong, it takes the combine might of Matt Murdock, Wade Wilson, Danny Rand and Luke Cage to set things right, with hilarious repercussions, if not consequences.

This giant issue has lots of artists task-in for four designated chapters. Our very own Elmer Bondoc is assigned in the third part whose art that can be described as kinetic, bouncy, hilarious, and downright “gross” (well, think of our very own Payatas and/or Smokey Mountain due to the setting of this chapter). These artists have shown their signature artistic takes of the abovementioned heroes. However, the story is essentially a singular or linear one, neither separate nor disjointed. Henceforth, some readers may be disorientated at first glance.

Deadpool 13 01

Sure, the greatest strength of Deadpool #13 is the story itself, especially on how this accessibly funny and mildly violent tale feel is akin of watching a live-action Deadpool, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage in either Netflix and/or in a cinema. In short, do not take this monster issue so seriously, similar of viewing the recent successful Deadpool movie.
