Lav Diaz’s Typhoon Yolanda Docu To Have PH Premiere

Storm-Children-01From the filmmaker who brought you films such as Norte, Hangganan Ng Kasaysayan, the Philippines’ entry for Best Foreign Language Film category to the 87th Oscars, and Mula Sa Kung Ano Ang Noon, winner of Golden Leopard at the 2014 Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, comes this highly anticipated film Mga Anak Ng Unos set to have its premiere on November 4, 2014, Tuesday, 7pm at Cinema 6 of Trinoma Mall.

In time for the anniversary of Typhoon Yolanda, Lav Diaz’s two hour documentary Mga Anak ng Unos tackles how children deal with life after the traumatic storm that wreaked havoc in Tacloban. Shot in black and white, the film also touches on the issue of climate change and its worsening effects on the issue of human survival.

The film is set to compete at the Copenhagen International Film Festival 2014 next month, from November 6 to 16.

An exhibit of the Climate Walk will be featured during the cocktails of the premiere at 6:00 pm.

The event is a fundraising effort of Dakila – Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism, an artist group inspiring social consciousness formation, and in partnership with the Embassy of Canada, Voyage Studios and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Tickets are priced at PhP 250 each (PhP 100 ticket + PhP 150 campaign). All the proceeds will be for the trust fund of the children featured in the film and for the benefit of the climate revolution campaign.
