FG MUSIC: SUM 41 Releases New Single!

It feels like we’re back to the early 2000s as SUM 41 is back with new music! SUM 41 are thrilled to get new music out to the patient, die-hard, dedicated fans who have been with them all along. Today, SUM 41 released the first single with a music video off of their latest album “13 Voices” entitled “Fake Your Own Death”. The music video is directed by Marc Klasfeld who is responsible for other SUM 41 hits such as “Fat Lip”, “In Too Deep” and “The Hell Song”.

“Fake Your Own Death” is a performance music video wherein the band performs on a rooftop in downtown Los Angeles, where all their nightmares – including Kim Kardashian, Michael Jordan and Donald Trump – comes and attacks the band.

Deryck Whibley shares his thoughts behind “Fake My Own Death”; “I just wanted to get away from everything that I had been doing. I needed to start a new life—like faking my own death.” Whibley on the new album, 13 Voices; “I can’t say whether this is our best record or not, as I don’t know if it is. All I can say is I did the best I possibly could during the toughest period of my life.”

13 Voices was written after Deryck’s four-month stint in the hospital. He recalls, “ “I had to learn how to do everything again-my motor skills, learning how to play guitar again… I couldn’t even walk at the time. It was really difficult, but at the same time if I didn’t have a record to make, I don’t think I would have recovered as quickly. Writing music gave me a purpose. I had to get better.”

13 Voices is a 10 track album that marks SUM 41’s first LP release in five years, following up to 2011’s Screaming Bloody Murder. It is scheduled for release on October 7th via Hopeless Records.
