All Eyez on Them: Superstars to Watch till WRESTLEMANIA

The WWE is now heading into WrestleMania at full force. It’s the one night of the year where Superstars shine and, with this year is shaping up to be one of the best WrestleManias yet, the ones on this list are those who we believe will shine the brightest at MetLife Stadium.

(NOTE: No NXT Superstars on this list. They’re for another one coming soon.)

Becky Lynch

While we don’t discredit the contributions made by Ronda Rousey or Charlotte Flair for the past year, it’s hard to argue that Becky Lynch is this year’s MVP of the Women’s Division, if not the entire WWE roster. While her journey to WrestleMania is seemingly in jeopardy despite winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match, The Man is already guaranteed to be the most important piece in what many believe will be the first WrestleMania main event to be headlined by women.

Seth Rollins

Of course, we can’t discredit the winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Rollins also had a strong year that was highlighted by his reign as Intercontinental Champion and a renewed feud with Dean Ambrose. Now with all of that behind him, The Architect is out to slay The Beast and take the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar’s clutches at WrestleMania.

Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston originally wasn’t supposed to be in the main event picture at this stage of his career.  But by taking the place of an injured Mustafa Ali at Elimination Chamber, he was thrust back into the spotlight and showed the world why he belonged there. The support for “Main Event Kofi” is now at an all-time high when he came close to dethroning “The New” Daniel Bryan for the WWE Title. Kofi managed to get another shot at the title at Fastlane, but was replaced by a returning Kevin Owens at the last minute by Mr. McMahon. Though most fans (as well as Kofi’s New Day brethren) reacted negatively to this news, worry not because all signs point to WrestleMania becoming KofiMania.

Roman Reigns

One of the most delightful surprises in recent memory is Roman Reigns announcing that his leukemia is in remission and is pretty much cleared to return to the ring soon. Regardless of how you may feel about him, Reigns is one of the WWE’s most bankable Superstars right now. We’re not yet sure how long The Big Dog can hold his own in the ring post-recovery, but it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll be part of WrestleMania in some capacity.

Batista

Another huge surprise was the return of Batista. For five years, Batista had mastered the art of being invisible to the eyes of the WWE Universe by earning his stripes as an actor. Now with The Animal conquering Hollywood, it was the right time for him to go back to the WWE, renewing his rivalry with former Evolution teammate Triple H. His WWE comeback is also timely as Avengers: Endgame premieres just weeks after WrestleMania. As the Show of Shows draws near, we could find out why The Animal rekindled his feud with The Game.

 Dean Ambrose

As far as the Lunatic Fringe goes, no one knows what his plans are after his current WWE contract ends. While the company acknowledged that Ambrose won’t be renewing his contract, it’s a breath of fresh air that they’ve seemingly let him loose creatively as his time with them is just about up. Add in the reports that his locker room demeanor improved after the return of Roman Reigns and we might just see him change his tune about leaving. Nevertheless, whether or not this situation translates to a setup for a match at WrestleMania remains to be seen. But it’s something to keep an eye on, just in case.

Mustafa Ali

We’re throwing Ali’s name in the hat even though he’s currently sidelined with a legitimate eye injury and concussion. Before being forced to take some time off, Ali quickly elevated to main event status, a testament to the hard work he’s put in during his time in 205 Live. Ali had an impressive outing in his SmackDown Live debut against Daniel Bryan despite coming up short, and scored a pin on the WWE Champion the following week in a tag team match. Ali even managed to eliminate both Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe at the Royal Rumble. Already hinting his return, the self-proclaimed Heart of SmackDown Live might just make it back by WrestleMania to reclaim his spot.
