Fans go through crates of vinyl on discount during Satchmi’s Vinyl Day.

It seems that the love for vinyl and record players is making its way back to the populace; it is interesting to note that despite this day and age of illegally downloading songs online or to the more acceptable paid streaming of songs, vinyls are steadily gaining back popularity. This was all manifested on Satchmi’s Vinyl Day, which happened last April 11, 2015 at the BGC Amphitheater.

Music lovers of all ages gathered to go through crates and crates of discounted vinyl which spanned decades of music and genres. There was something for everybody, there were your dad’s vinyl, there were your vinyl; with new titles such as Taylor Swift’s 1987, The 1975’s debut album, among others. Of course there were also some jeweled finds for geeks out there, such as Batman Begins OST.

Aside from the vinyl on discount, fans gathered to bear witness and enjoy performances from 12 talented local acts.

The Cohens

Ourselves The Elves

Tandems 91

Jensen & the Flips

B.P. Valenzuela

Ang Bandang Shirley

Crowd favorite Cheats, rev the crowd up with their fun and energetic songs. They are slated to release their debut album in the year.

Aside from the vinyl on discount and live music, there was also a mobile booth where you can listen to vinyl, free ice cream from Kool Kids and drinks from EDSA beverage design group. A fun photo booth let’s you print pictures from your devices.

Missed Vinyl Day? Don’t fret since you need have to wait for a year for the next one – just follow Satchmi through their social media sites for updates on promos, discounts and events. They have in store performances from time to time. If you haven’t visited their store yet (located at the 4th floor of the Mega Fashion Hall) you really should. :)
