The Hottest Toys and Collectibles To Watch Out For and Pre-Order (February Report)

Toys, statues, figurines, and other collectibles. Many geeks and enthusiasts here in the Philippines are craving for them, and as the demand for them continually grows year by year, it is our job here in Flipgeeks to show you which ones you’ll be saving up for or you might be interested in. Nendoroid, Hot Toys, ThreeZero, Funko, Figma, etc. we’re listing them below and we’ll give you our reasons why we chose them. So, ready your wallets and go try to reserve them or pre-order them before most of them run out. Since you’ll never know, some of them may not have a re-release in the future.

ThreeZero 1/6 Berserk – Guts

ThreeZero has announced in their Instagram that the next figure in their lineup will be a 1/6 figure based on a character from Berserk - an award winning manga anime series. This series has already been given a film (not live-action), video game and the action figure treatment.. but the guys at ThreeZero think we deserve something big and awesome – a 1/6 scale figure. No details on the release date yet, but expect it to be n the near future and possibly in the late quarter of the year. They’ve only shown a teaser image, but didn’t mention which character. Though expect it to be the main series’ main character Guts, or else fans will go berserk. No price and release date (maybe later this year), but definitely put this in your list as this might go out fast.

Hot Toys Thanos (Guardians of the Galaxy)

Thanos wasn’t really too hot when he appeared in last year’s blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, since his appearance wasn’t really that prominent. But the upcoming Hot Toys Thanos is set to conquer the collecting galaxy. This HT really does look awesome, but if you notice, there’s just a few accessories – just some hands and his throne. Wait?! No Infinity Gauntlet?! Nope, since it’s not inclduded in his appearance in GotG. But hey, that throne looks pretty cool. The figure really conveys Thanos’ bulk and dominant presence. Plus, this figure has a lot of armor on it, and not much cloth, it looks pretty durable. Rarirty. It is one of the top factors that you must think about before you decide in getting this. It is highly probable that this costume gets a major makeover when he appears on future Marvel movies. With Hot Toys, they tend to release different variations, and you might wanna think about that throne, it’s highly probable it won’t be released next time. Hot Toys has always been considered as a ‘holy grail’ for most collectors here in the country. Collectors always sought for one to add it to their collection. In the past year, 1/6 scale and Hot Toys figures collectors have increased (make new friends and learn from them how you can take care of your Hot Toys), it’s just the right time to grab yourself one. It’s gonna cost around US$415 and will hit shops late 2015 or even an early 2016 release.

Skyrim Nightingale Statue by Gaming Heads

Skyrim is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls videogame series by Bethesda, and is one of the most popular games in the past few years. A lot of people endeared to Skyrim, are yearning for more stuff coming out. Gaming Heads gave everyone a treat some time ago, with their Dragonborn, The Breton and Shrine of Azura statues. Right now, it seems that they’re not stopping as they are set out to release another statue in their armor collection — the 1/6 scale Nightingale. If you’re a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, it’s gonna be hard to pass on this one. A standard version (US$299.99) will be limited to 1000 pieces, while the exclusive edition (US$329.99) features an LED light in the base and will be limited to 500 pieces ONLY. Pre-orders are now up.

Avengers: Age of Ultron bonanza by Funko

Funko. In the last year, Funko is a brand that went beyond expectations, as demand increased, the number of enthusiasts and collectors have grown significantly. As they acquire a number of licences from movies, games, comics, they are definitely on a roll in producing items. Funko’s price range is undeniably one of it’s appealing factors. Wanna get an item based on your favorite character from a comic book, game or movie? Looking for something worth around 500 – 2000 pesos? Then Funko may be the right brand that you’re looking for. Right now, Funko isn’t the only one making waves. There’s also MARVEL. The comic book company has been very aggressive and successful not only in the comic book industry, but in the toys and movie industry as well. This year, we’re expecting their “Avengers: Age of Ultron” to become a blockbuster. We’ll be seeing our favorite Avengers re-uniting, and some new added characters. What does this mean for Funko? New stuff to sell. Check them out below:

Nendoroid Wind Waker: Link Re-release by Good Smile Company

Did you grow up playing Nintendo Games? Besides Donkey Kong, Mario, and a few bunch, there’s this little elf -like person with green attire wherein people (especially non-gamers) oftenly mistake as Zelda. This popular character, Link, is the protagonist of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series. With a bunch of old games of the series being ported to new gaming devices, and new collectibles based on Link are being produced, his popularity only increases not just in Japan, but also in Asia and in western countries. According to reports last year, figures based on Link were top sellers. One of them was the Nendoroid Wind Waker figure by Good Smile Company. The Nendoroid Link figure went out really fast from local shops here, and it seems that all hope is lost. But we had some good news recently as they announced that they will be re-releasing this figure again this year! When? Probably around June. This might be your last chance to get this one, as it may become a rare figure in the future. Go to GSC’s site or contact your local shop (roughly ¥4,000) to pre-order this awesome figure now!!!

Revoltech Boba Fett by Kaiyodo

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away there was a bounty hunter named Boba Fett who people find so cool and most of them cannot explain why. When I first saw him in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes BackHe is simply cool. But with more stories involving the character were made, it just made him more interesting and badass. Today, Boba Fett is still one of Star Wars most popular characters. More and more Boba Fett figures and statues are being made, and as the new installment “Episode VII: The Force Awakens” is set to release this year, Japanese company Kaiyodo has set their eyes on the popular franchise. Kaiyodo’s Revoltech line is simply one of the best when it comes to great quality figures — great accuracy, details, paint job, articulation, etc. They’ve already released Darth Vader, and the Stormtrooper (great for army building), but in the near future we’ll be getting the bounty hunter. Below is an image from the recent Wonder Festival 2015 Winter, which shows an unpainted Boba Fett figure. It’s getting a ¥5,200 (Japanese Yen) price tag, and is quite expensive if you ask me. But this one will simply ooze coolness when you place it on your shelf. Let’s just wish we get a lot of extra hands, guns or other accesories included in the package.

Horse by Figma

Now you might be wondering why we’ve put a Horse figure in this list. When I play videogames, may it be action adventure games or MMORPGs, sometimes having a mount automatically increases the value of that character. Things becomes more cool and badass. There’s Agro from Shadow of the Colossus, Shadowmere from Skyrim, Invincible from World of Warcraft, Odin from Final Fantasy XIII and more. When it comes to collectibles, we’ve seen some statues and figures with horses. One of my favorites was the Lord of the Rings Ringwraith that comes with that awesome horse with red eyes. When you add a mount or a horse, things somehow becomes more glorious and we know you feel the same too. Now some of us might be thinking why the hell shouldn’t some of our figures get a horse. Good Smile Company’s Figma is taking their chances this year, as they’re set to release Horse figures. We’re getting two variants – white and chestnut horses. Both comes saddled up already. They’ll be out in this June for ¥4,000. It’s quite pricey, but think of your Figma figures (Attack on Titan??!) or other figures that might fit on it. Plus, think of all the cool toy photography and fun you might have with it. Oh if you’re good in making custom action figures, then you might think about getting this one too. Pre-order now before it runs out!!! If you guys know more figures that were announced recently, please don’t be shy and let us know in the comments section! Other peeps might wanna know too!
