OPPO debuts the OPPO R7 series


OPPO Philippines has officially launched its newest set of camera phones in the market, the OPPO R7 Series. The R7 series comes in two variations; the 5” screened R7 Lite and its more powerful counterpart; the 6” screened R7 Plus. Listed below are the specs for both mobile devices.


R7 PLUS Specs:

Operating System: ColorOS 2.1, based on Android 5.1

Processor: Qualcomm MSM8939 Octa-core 1.5GHz


Storage: 32 GB (128 GB Expandable)

Battery: 4100 mAh Li-Po battery (unremovable)

SIM Card: 2 Nano-SIM Card

Screen Size/Pixel: 6.0″ Arc Edge Screen FHD (1920 x 1080)

Rear Camera: 13MP

Front Camera: 8 MP


First up, the R7 Plus offers a wider range of features that is at par with most high end smart phones today. The R7 Plus has a magnesium-aluminum body design and comprises of 90% metal. Inside the R7 Plus is 3GB of RAM and a Qualcomm MSM 8939 1.5 GHz processor, which promises robust performance with minimal power usage. The R7 Plus is powered by a 4100mAH inbuilt lithium-polymer and supported by OPPO’s very own VOOC Flash Charge, which as of launch promises that a 5 minute charge would give you about 2 hours of battery life. In a time wherein smart phones are heavy battery usage, this feature of OPPO R7 Plus is very effective for people always on the go.

For the security of your phone, the R7 offers a finger sensor on its back that can store up to five fingerprints that corresponds to a number of commands, such as unlocking the device and software encryption.

One of the highlights of the R7 launch is the camera features of the R7 series. The R7 plus mainly being a camera phone is equipped with a laser autofocus system the focuses precisely on a subject in under 0.3 seconds. Imagine, just under a fraction of a second you are ready to take a photograph and the laser will intuitively scan the scene or your subject and find the perfect focal point, which enables the user to capture any fast moving object and sceneries. The R7 Plus main camera has 13 MP and the front camera has 8MP. In addition, the R7 Plus’ main camera is equipped with an OPPO-first RGBW sensor which adds an additional white pixel to the traditional RGB layout. This essentially enhances photos under low-light conditions with a 32% higher light sensitivity and 78% noise reduction, which basically means that you’d get clear, crisp, detailed pictures even in indoor low-light and dark conditions.

R7 LITE Specs:

SIM Card: Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM Card

Screen Size/Pixel: 5.0″ HD (720 x 1280)

Rear Camera: 13MP

Front Camera: 8 MP


Not to be outdone by its bigger counterpart, the R7 Lite is a simpler and sleeker version yet still a powerful high end device. It has 2GB of RAM and the Qualcomm 615 Octa-core 1.3 GHz and runs on OPPO’s latest OS, the ColorOS 2.1. The R7 Lite offers a Security Center that ensures stable performance along with data monitoring and memory clean up. Just like the R7 Plus, the R7 Lite also has 13 MP for its back camera and 8 MP on its front camera. The R7 Lite has the same features as the R7 Plus that allows you to take clear photos under low-light conditions. One of the main differences between the cameras for the R7 series is that the R7 lite on its ULTRA-HD mode can take pictures of up to 50 MP-quality photos, so that would be like having a DSLR camera on your device.


One of the huge selling points of the R7 series is its affordability. Compared to other high end mobile devices in the market today, both the R7 Plus and R7 Lite is relatively cheaper. The R7 Plus retails at P21,990.00 and the R7 Lite is priced at P13,990.00. Both units are available at OPPO stores nationwide and are also available through its online partner store, Lazada.

Basically, the R7 series offers what you’re basically looking for in a phone, a great camera for taking photos, a good processor that allows you to use the phone at ease with a sleek and good looking design to boast. It has everything that you would want and need in a high end mobile device. One thing that stands out in the R7 series is its battery life. With its Flash Charge feature, once you run out of battery, no need to hoard outlets just to charge your device, a quick 5 minute charge, may be finish a cup of coffee first and then you’re back on the go.



Hopefully, when get the chance in the future, we would like to have an in-depth review and utilize the potential of the OPPO R7 series. As for now, based on what we’ve learned and seen during the OPPO R7 launch, both the R7 Plus and R7 light has our nod of approval. The OPPO R7 series for its price and features alone makes it worth every peso spent.
