EVANS: THE RAID 3 Not Happening Anytime Soon
The third installment to The Raid franchise will not arrive until 2018 at the earliest, according to the series’ brainchild Gareth Evans.
He took the announcement via Twitter a few days back, claiming that there were no ideas on the drawing board as of writing regarding Raid 3. “The Raid 3 is not going to be happening anytime soon. Ideas in my head. Nothing written. No set date. 2018/19 possibly.“
It is reassuring that a sequel movie will be underway for the iconic martial arts series, but there’s the possibility that a lot of things might happen during the three-year gap. As far as ideas are concerned, Evans once mused that the next movie will be set a few hours after the events of Berandal.
Currently, Sony is moving ahead with plans for an Americanized remake of The Raid with Patrick Hughes directing and Taylor Kitsch and Frank Grillo in the lead roles. On the other hand, series’ stalwarts Yayan Ruihan and Iko Uwais have taken roles for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
