Sylvester Stallone To Direct “CREED 2”
2015 was a year where dormant franchises like Mad Max, Star Wars, and even Rocky spawned itself to theaters again as they were brought to new directions with fresh faced talents on board. Ryan Coogler’s Creed film, that tells the story of Apollo Creed’s son Adonis making a name for himself in the boxing ring with the help of his father’s closest friend, Rocky Balboa. Now, with Coogler being busy in Wakanda with Black Panther one does put to question as to whether or not they’ll be able to strike lightning twice with the director’s busy schedule.
Rocky Balboa himself, Sylvester Stallone takes to Instagram to announce his involvement in the newest film as its director, writer, and producer (alongside Coogler as executive producer). The Academy Award Nominee wrote: “Looking forward to directing and Producing The incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in CREED 2 next year … One more Round!”
This isn’t his first match-up juggling different things altogether on-set as he did so before with The Expendables, the Rocky sequels, and Rambo (2008). The follow-up was said to have Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago return to challenge the titular character. However, the much anticipated sequel still has no release date.
