Super75Studios’ ICARUS Finds Funds With Kickstarter

Press Release

Independent creator Ryan Cody has a big idea. To use a proven method of crowd-sourcing — with a new twist — to fund a 4-issue miniseries of his self-published title ICARUS. Using Kickstarter, the popular fundraising site, the creator plans to raise enough money, using a subscription-based model, to produce at least four monthly issues.

The Flagstaff, Arizona, based creator is using Kickstarter as a way to offer a subscription service. The individual issues will be released digitally, on the first of every month, at a cost of only .99 per issue. “What I am asking is if you are a fan of comics, of good storytelling, and are willing to give me chance, I will give you a full-color, 22-page comic every month for just a dollar each,” Ryan said. The minimum Kickstarter pledge will be only the subscription amount of $4. Rewards will also be offered that include original pages, covers and a limited edition ICARUS sourcebook.

ICARUS will launch with a 32-page prequel that will be available for free starting on September 19th via http://graphicly.com/ and http://drivethrucomics.com. ICARUS follows U.S.M.C. Major Robert Riley on his exploits to track and assassinate all super-powered beings on Earth. Things aren’t all that they seem in Riley’s world: Girls that can see the future, alien invasions and government conspiracies all play a part in this twisting and turning adventure. When Big Brother decides to put its foot down, Riley is there to chop it off.

ICARUS #1 is an intriguing first issue that zigs when you think it’ll zag and continues to leave you spinning right up until the last page.” – Ambush Bug – www.aintitcool.com

There is a definite secret and conspiracy feel to this title, and the art direction definitely complements that theme.”- Jonathon Chuang – www.brokenfrontier.com
