A few years back, exclusive Playstation merchandises could only be obtained as part of a game’s pre-order package. However, these days toy manufacturers like Good Smile Company have obtained licenses to popular franchises such as Horizon Zero Dawn that we are now able to see more collectibles readily available in the market. Following the success of Horizon Zero Dawn, comes the sequel Horizon Forbidden West where the Nendoroir 1850 is based from, the franchise’s protagonist, Aloy.
PACKAGING 9/10
Released in 2022, Aloy comes in the newer, smaller, and compact Nendoroid packaging. The clear plastic in front of the box shows the contents inside and pictures on the sides and at the back gives a preview of the many poses that you can do with the Nendoroid. The box is already highly displayed in itself, which Mint In Sealed Box (MISB) Collectors could surely appreciate.
SCULPT AND PAINT 10/10
As is with my previous reviews, I really pay attention to the sculpt and paint as these are the main factors that provide the likeness of the collectible to the source material. Though Nendoroids are miniature collectibles but it’s amazing to see how detailed these small figures are. Simply looking at Aloy’s hair you can appreciate the attention to detail given to this Nendoroid. POLY-TOYS, the Nendoroid’s sculptor was able to capture the locks and braids of Aloy’s crowning glory. Though the hair made the figure top heavy and hard to balance but looking how it looks, I could say that it was worth it.
There’s even a Watcher included along with Aloy. Even not articulated, the Watcher is pretty detailed and a welcome addition to the package.
ARTICULATION 7/10
Aloy is hard to display without her figure stand as Aloy’s big hair makes the figure hard to balance. Speaking of hair, even Aloy’s front braids are articulated. You could adjust it depending on how you would display Aloy whether she’s holding her bow and arrow or her spear. Unlike other Nendoroids who uses replaceable arms for display, Aloy’s arms and legs are fully articulated.
VERDICT 8/10
Nendoroid 1850 Aloy is an official Playstation licensed product, which makes it one of the sought after collectibles among fans. POLY-TOYS made a great job of sculpting the image and likeness of Aloy, and gave her that chibi cuteness that is signature to Nendoroids. Aside from the attention of detail, Aloy is fully articulated that doesn’t limit the figure’s displayability or playability. You can pose Aloy or recreate your favorite scenes from the game just like what we did with this review.
