REVIEW: Go Big on ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Inside Out Director’s Cut’
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Inside Out Director’s Cut is getting a glimpse into the work of comics creation at the highest level.
Bill Sienkiewicz drawing Ninja Turtles? SOLD. End of Review.
But no, seriously, watching Sienkiewicz bring his iconic style to the franchise is enough to get me to read this. What this book does to make it even more worthwhile is give us a sneak peek into the process. That is cool. That is something that anyone who aspires to make comics, or is even just a fan and wants to see how it’s done, would want to see.
We get to see Kevin Eastman’s breakdowns, with rough sketches and sequences, go from that to Sienkiewicz’s art, all the way to the finished product. As a fan you can see how each step of the process moves the work forward, how the artist’s touch shapes the work, and how creators collaborate to bring together a story. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Inside Out Director’s Cut’s thin on story, but big on getting a glimpse into the work of comics creation at the highest level.
