Open Gaming Meet

Before video games came around and became almost every geek’s staple mode of entertainment, there were board games. Times when friends gather around a table, bring on some munchies and set-up the table for an afternoon of trash talking and out witting each other. For a time, board games became passe’ most notably in the late 90’s to the early 2000’s when Collectible Card Games and next-gen video games became the norm. But now, it seems that there’s a new revolution going on.
Board gaming is on the rise again. And this is evidenced by people willing to spread the word and the fun around. Open Gaming Meet (OGM) is one such event, a monthly gathering of board gamers from all around with the sole purpose of getting people into the hobby. Recently, an Open Gaming Meet (OGM) happened at the Sports Loop at the 3rd floor of Robinson’s Galeria with well over a dozen tables dedicated to board gaming. Joining is simple: one just have to register at the reception table and either join in at a table or start a game by picking up one of the games presented. Game demos are also available with some of the games are designed and produced by local creators. And if a game catches yoru fancy, chances are it is available for sale in the event.
Open Gaming Meets are a fun way to enjoy a lot of different board games in a short period of time. It’s also a great way to make friends along the way. Open Gaming Meets have their own Facebook group page where they announce the schedule and venue next session. So join up and start having fun!
