REVIEW: Here Comes Violencia in Kick-Ass #3
Kick-Ass #3 starts on the long confrontation between Kick-Ass and this baddie for the rest of this story arc.
Kick-Ass #3 introduces a threat to the new Kick-Ass Patience Lee with simplicity and up to par set-up story. The villain of our vigilante superhero is Violencia. And surely, this issue starts on the long confrontation between Kick-Ass and this baddie for the rest of this story arc.
Mark Millar executes this issue with the inclusion of a touching mother-son moment. This issue’s depth of this moment gives readers on how this version of Kick-Ass is indeed matured and homely.
Even with the presentation of minimal action in this issue, John Romita Jr.‘s art shows great sequential art. Any reader would have no problem reading the whole issue if it is textless. Inker-colorist Peter Steigerwald shows a good stride on enhancing and supporting the lines of JRJR.
[Note: One of Hoop’s men really looks like Marvel’s street-level Defender member Luke Cage]
Kick-Ass #3 is inferior to the previous issues. But it is still a good one to set-up for a good, violent and exciting issue four.
