Darth Vader Role Confirmed in ‘Rogue One'; James Earl Jones set to Return!

Darth-Vader-700x300When it was announced that the first film in the soon-to-be established anthology series shall take place in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, one would ask if the rag-tag group of resistance fighters shall encounter a rather familiar threat in Gareth Edwards’ “Rogue One” film. That threat being the iconic villain, Darth Vader. After much speculation it was confirmed that Darth Vader shall make an appearance in the film. Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy sat down with Entertainment Weekly that although that he won’t exactly dominate the film he will have a “key, strategic moment” in which he will be “going to loom large”. It was also announced that the academy award nominee, James Earl Jones shall return to the sound stage to lend his voice to the iconic villain once again.

Despite Vader’s title being a “sith lord”, the prime antagonist of the film will still be Director Orson Krennic (played by Ben Mendelsohn) who only desires to rise in the ranks of the empire as he leads an elite special force unit of the imperial military known as the Deathtroopers. “There is a lot of palace intrigue going on in the Empire, with people conspiring to move up the ranks and sabotaging each other. There’s not a lot of loyalty there,” executive producer John Knoll revealed.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, and Mads Mikkelsen. This film is set to release in cinemas nationwide December 2016!
