Marvel’s PEGGY CARTER TV Series

The “one shot” short film Item 47 on The Avengers DVD led to the new ABC/Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and it looks like there would be another DVD extra that will grace our television sets soon. Reports say that Marvel is developing a potential TV series based on Captain America’s old-time flame, Peggy Carter, who would also star in her own short film Agent Carter. Agent Carter will be featured in the upcoming Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3.

Directed by Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito, the short film will star Hayley Atwell as Captain America’s girlfriend as the story reveals her life as a secret agent after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. The TV series, on the other hand, is already in its early stages of development, Deadline reports. However, it is still unclear whether Atwell is up for a TV series role.

Whichever’s the case, this TV series would be a big development in Marvel’s recent efforts of female-led materials. Aside from Agent Carter, there’s the rumored Captain Marvel movie with Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff said to get the role of the newest Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers plus the unconfirmed Black Widow movie mentioned by Stan Lee in passing as a candidate for a solo film.
