Summer Fun At PGF 2017!
Hordes of gamers flocked the Trinoma Activity Center last labor day weekend for Pinoy Gaming Festival (PGF) 2017. The event lived up to its billing as the biggest gaming event this summer! I got there just as the mall opened and when I got to the Trinoma Activity Center the line already circled around the venue. That’s just how huge the turnout was! As I entered the venue, people were already lined up to the different games featured at PGF 2017.
The games showcased at PGF 2017 were mobile games, Mobile Legends and Vain Glory, MOBA favorites, League Of Legends and DOTA 2, Filipino made first-person shooter, Project Xandata and UBISOFT games Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and the fan favorite, Just Dance 2017. MSi also showcased their gaming laptops and let the crowd experience VR through the HTC Vibe.
There has been a rapid growth in the e-sports scene the last few years and PGF has been a part of it. Each year the crowd just gets bigger and bigger. I was amazed and surprised to see that kids as young as 6 or 7 are out with their family, cheering their hearts out for their favorite teams. As I watch the LoL tournament with the crowd, each kill garnered cheers from the crowd.
PGF 2017 is a testament how huge the e-sports scene has become. Events like PGF 2017 provides an avenue for Filipino gamers to showcase their skills, talent and love for the gaming industry. Congratulations to everyone behind PGF 2017 and we look forward to next year’s festivities!
