WARNING: THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THIS WEEK’S SUPERMAN #3
One of Superman’s prominent foes in the ‘90s returns in full force, and in his classic look no less, in this week’s Superman #3.
Created by writer Roger Stern, the Eradicator made his first appearance in 1989’s Action Comics Annual #2 and was subsequently featured in several Superman stories as a corrupted sentient program bent on preserving Kryptonian culture by eradicating other races in the process. And thus became known as the Eradicator.

This version of the Eradicator appears to be much closer to his original iteration. Only this time, the Eradicators are a protocol created by General Zod whose duty was to track down Kryptonian lawbreakers and transfer them to the Phantom Zone. Upon witnessing the destruction of Krypton, he caught a glimpse of Kal-El’s rocket escaping and decides to follow it to Earth.
After arriving in the Fortress of Solitude, he finally reveals his ultimate plan to Clark and Lois – to rewrite Jon Kent’s genetic code by essentially erasing the human traces in his DNA to preserve his Kryptonian heritage.
