‘GLEE’ Star chosen as ‘FLASH’

I’m not sure if this would come as a good news to some or a shock to all Barry Allen fans. It was just announced that Glee’s Grant Gustin has been cast as the scarlet speedster for the upcoming season of Arrow. The 23-year-old Gustin is going to play Barry Allen who is based on the description of the character, a forensic scientist. This may come as a bit of a surprising choice, given his young age.

“Who said singing can’t land you super-hero duties?”

His character is currently scheduled to appear in three episodes of Arrow: Season 2. He’ll appear in the 8th and 9th episode and then return in episode 20. This will be an origin story that will function as a sort of introduction for a potential spinoff about the DC Comics character.

“No, this is not Grant Gustin. I’m from the 90’s kiddos!”

CW and Warner Bros. TV released the following as the character’s official description:

BARRY ALLEN is a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

The 2nd season of Arrow is set to air starting October 9.
