COMIC BOOK REVIEW: X-Men Regenesis # 1

Reviewing X-Men Regenesis # 1 by Kieron Gillen and Billy Tan.

The one-shot that book ends the events of Schism details the next few days after the battle between Wolverine and Cyclops in the shores of Utopia.

The storytelling is just okay in my opinion. It manages to paint a clear picture with regards to the motivation of each mutant member of the team as to why they have chosen to be where they are.

While the story progresses, we get to see a rather primal version of the selection process in the form of a battle between Logan and Scott wearing prehistoric clothes.

Now I’m not sure about the whole prehistoric setting battle as it might be an excuse for Tan and the rest of the art guys to draw the X-girls wearing the bikini style tops and loincloth.

I’m a bit confused in some pages since I really thought I was looking at an interior page done by Adam Kubert.

Overall, I enjoyed the one-shot as it was an epilogue to the troubles that came out from Jason Aaron’s Schism. My only real problem though is the fact that Wolverine got the shorter end of the stick when it comes to getting people to work with his team. The only real heavy hitter I saw in the new team which will be joining Wolverine in “Wolverine and the X-Men” happens to be Iceman.

For the steep price that came along with the book, I could say that its “sulit”. Its even going to be sweeter for X-Men fans who’ve followed the mutants ever since the destructive events of Messiah Complex.
