Benedict Cumberbatch to Cast Magic as DOCTOR STRANGE!

A few days ago, we reported to you that Benedict Cumberbatch is among the four actors who are being considered by Marvel for the titular role of Doctor Strange. Today, Deadline reveals that Marvel has chosen the said actor to take the cape of the iconic Sorcerer Supreme.

Cumberbatch is currently garnering some major Oscar buzz for his performance as ‘Alan Turing’ in the biopic, The Imitation Game, as well as getting fame for his quirky portrayal of the modern Sherlock, but Doctor Strange, if is as successful as previous Marvel films, could finally make Cumberbatch a household name in the US.

Doctor Strange will be directed by Sinister and Deliver Us From Evil director, Scott Derrickson. The script is currently being rewritten by Prometheus screenwriter Jon Spaihts, based on the original script written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. It is expected to hit theaters on 2016.
