Days before the anticipated finale of the hit Gunpla show Gundam Build Fighters, Sunrise unveils the release of an upcoming mecha anime show, Gundam Reconguista in G, the newest addition to the longrunning Gundam franchise. Penned by a returning Yoshiyuki Tomino, this next incarnation will be set in the ever-expanding Universal Century continuity, depicting the events that occurred after the conflict between spacenoids and the Earth Federation, and is based on a draft that Tomino had written years ago, called Hajimetai Capital G no Monogatari.
Created for Gundam’s 35th anniversary, Reconguista in G’s story occurs in the Reguild Century, the era which ushered following the Universal Century. It chronicles the adventures of Berli Zenam, a young pilot and member of the space elevator protecting organization Capital Guard.
Nothing much has been revealed at this point, apart from a mobile suit design by Akira Yasuda, showcasing the main mecha of the show. Tomino also told the public during the unveiling that everything has been finished in terms of Reconguista in G’s plot and designs.
Gundam Reconguista in G will be shown come Fall 2014. For now, enjoy the teaser.
