The first trailer for the upcoming sequel to 2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront II has been leaked online — You can watch the trailer below.
The trailer, which was expected to premiere at Saturday’s(April 15) Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, have made an unexpected early release just hours ago.
2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront is a remake of a 2004 game of the same name. Though it boasted hyper-realistic visuals and an engaging multiplayer, fans were disappointed to find the lack of a singleplayer campaign and limited game modes. The leaked trailer, however, all but confirms that the upcoming sequel may indeed feature a campaign, potentially starring a new female lead.
The trailer showcases various war-torn set pieces across all cinematic periods as well as several notable characters including Yoda, Darth Maul, Rey and Kylo Ren — all previously unavailable from the first game. The trailer is mostly CGI but it gives a glimpse at what the sequel has in store for Star Wars fans. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more of this game at this Saturdays Star Wars Celebration event. Expect there to be a beta test for this game as well, likely a month before it’s official release.
It was a great shame that 2015’s battlefront was the way that it was, for at the heart of it was an incredible Star Wars adaptation. This trailer points the game at the right direction, so here’s to hoping that their common malpractices won’t bar people from experiencing this title a second time.
Star Wars: Battlefront II is expected to drop in or around the third quarter of 2017, coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
