SDCC ’14: New Cast Members For AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Announced!
Right from their panel in San Diego Comic-Con, the first video teaser for the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been released, The teaser features Patton Oswalt as Agent Koenig, explaining the importance of the lanyard, but the highlight of the video is that it introduces or at least “name dropped” a new member for the team: Barbara “Bobbi” Morse a.k.a. (Agent) Mockingbird.
In the comic books, Mockingbird is introduced as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., she has no superhuman abilities but is blessed with enhanced strength and speed later on after getting injected with an “experimental serum”. Her debut was during the silver age of comics in an issue of Astonishing Tales #6 back in the early 70s created by Neal Adams and Len Wein. She is known for finding the second Avengers team with, Clint Barton/Hawkeye who both share an on again-off again relationship. Let’s just hope we’ll also see some more comic book characters to pop up in the second season.
It was also announced that additional cast members such as Lucy “Warrior Princess“ Lawless is confirmed to have a role of a veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (described as “dangerous”), Dollhouse-alum Reed Diamond is dubbed as season 2’s “big bad” who is meanwhile revealed that it is Daniel Whiteall and if you have read any comics (notably, Hickman’s Secret Warriors) you’ll know him by the name of “Kraken” the said founding father of HYDRA, and lastly Nick Blood as Lance Hunter whom you may know as the director of STRIKE.
